Cheesy, cheesy

Lost in translation? I don't know. But these lines from Feng Xiaogang's lavish, ornate, operatic and dull "The Banquet," spoken by the Emperor (Ge You) and the Empress (Ziyi Zhang), sound like the cheesiest movie dialogue of the year for me:

Emperor: Even if you are piece of ice, you will melt in my mouth.

Empress: What if the piece of ice turns out to be fire--a ball of fire?

Emperor: Then I will swallow it, and it will warm my heart.
Hee-haw.

Your turn. What's the hammiest line (or lines) you've heard in the movies?

Cheesiest movie line?

"I'm the king of the world."

From that highly overrated film, Titanic.

Nothing comes close to it.

"I never.... said.... that I love you!" - Sam Milby, Maging Sino Ka Man, TV Soap

Guests watching Julia Roberts hitched on a Fedex truck (runaway bride)

Guest 1: Where do you think she's going?
Guest 2: Wherever it is, she will be there before 10:30 tomorrow morning.

All the lines from the movie "The Notebook" are cheesy. I nearly went to the box office to demand a refund. Ugh.

"You. Complete Me."

"You had me from 'hello.'"

Talk about pas-de-duh.

Hi, Gibbs, was wondering: that "Philippine Top Site" you seem to be a member of supposedly accepts only sites with their own domains. You're on a Blogger domain--how'd you become a member?

Err, "You complete me?" Try saying that to a woman and you'll get a blank stare... :-D

From the cartoon movie Pocahontas, John Smith telling Pocahontas "I'd rather die tomorrow than live a hundred years without knowing you."... Ulol, diba?!

hi NICK, i can take that line from the movie (leo di caprio can read the phone directory and i'd still watch), but not from james cameron's oscar speech! :)

hehe, diba, JUON? :)

MIGS, akala ko ba you'd die for sam milby!? :)

haha, i remember that line, BANANAS! :)

GYPSY, i didn't get to see 'the notebook.' but the trailer was enough to convince me it was a sapfest. true? :)

hi NOEL, agree! those tom cruise lines takes the cake... re domains, i do have a domain name--www.gibbscadiz.com--but it's redirected to my blogspot site for now, since the latter is easier to maintain for a tech-challenged guy like me. :)

hehe, hear hear, SNGLGUY! :)

RENTHEAD, love the 'ulol' part in your comment! btw, we're both rentheads. 'five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes...' :)

ey ALTERNATI, OLIVER, 7THSTRANGER, JHAY, thanks a lot!

now, how about this one:

"Oo, inaamin ko, sila ay mga yakal, lawaan, apitong at narra. At kami ay saging lang. Pero maghanap kayo ng puno sa buong Pilipinas, saging lang ang may puso. Saging lang ang may puso!"
-- Mark Lapid in the movie 'Apoy sa Dibdib ng Samar'

You wouldn't know how you set up that redirecting thing do you? I have a domain name too, but it's mostly reserved--nothing happening there.

Yeah, I'm tech challenged too.

hi noel, uh, i had a friend set it up -- you see, the domain name was a birthday gift from him. but since i didn't know what to do with it, and i had this blog, he took the liberty of redirecting it to my blog for now. lemme ask him how he can help you do the same thing. :)

Noel Vera said...

Thanks. I have the domain name probably for a year, then I don't know what to do with it now that I'm on blogster. Hell, I don't know what to do with it NOW.

I'll wait for your reply...

hi noel, i am gibbs's friend, the one who helped him redirect his gibbscadiz.com domain name to gibbscadiz.blogspot.com. the redirection can be done through the registrar where you bought your domain name. where did you buy it? i bought gibbscadiz.com at godaddy.com. regardless where you buy it, you normally are given an admin console where you can instruct the registrar to forward the traffic coming in to your domain name to your preferred site, e.g. your blogspot address. let me know through gibbs if you need more help than this.

This line is from the Brewrats show which isn't a movie, but, it is cheesy:

Guy: Nag-enroll ka na ba?
Girl: Hindi pa, Bakit?
Guy: Ako na lang pag-aralan mo!

:)

i do love "the banquet" but that line was really cheesy...i guess the cheesy line i can remember would be bea alonzo's in "one more chance"....

" pwede bang ako na lang, ako na lang ulit..." with a sound of tears and desperation
