PETA's musical theater workshop

This summer, enroll your child in PETA’s Creative Musical Theater Workshop!

Let your child discover new things about himself. Let her act, write stories, dance and, of course, sing! The workshop is designed to allow students not only re-create existing Broadway and local musicals but to come up with their own original musical production. The course also builds the student’s confidence and improve their personality, teaches the value of teamwork and respect for others’ opinions and identities, in four weeks of fun and games, creative drama sessions, creative songwriting, creative improvisations, movement explorations, music sessions and vocalization exercises.

The course will be facilitated by veteran PETA singer/musician/actor/teacher Upeng Galang-Fernandez of “Kahapon, Ngayon at Bukas,” “Pinoy Wannabes” and “Belong Puti,” together with writer/composer/actor Vincent A. DeJesus, Palanca Awardee for Literature; Urian, Gawad Tanglaw and Star Awardee for Best Achievement in Music; composer and musical director of hit productions “Himala The Musical,” “Zsazsa Zaturnnah,” “Palasyo ni Valentin”; films like “Crying Ladies,” “La Visa Loca” and TV shows “Kampanerang Kuba,” “Gulong Ng Palad" and “Palimos Ng Pag-Ibig.”

Participants must be at least 16 years old and above and must show interest in music and acting. Workshop starts April 16 and ends on May 12, Monday-Friday, 6pm to 10pm at the PETA Theater Center #5 Sunnyside Drive, Bgy. Kristong Hari, E. Rodriguez Ave., Quezon City (at the back of Quezon City Sports Club). Workshop fee is P6,500 only. Call 7256244 or 09156442478 and look for Julie or the workshop secretariat.

Other courses offered are Children’s Theater, Teen Theater, Theater Arts for Young and Basic Acting for Stage. The PETA summer workshops have been teaching theater to children, youth and adults here and around the world for the past 40 years.
