In "After Aida," music lovers and theater aficionados will witness a very human story of how Verdi’s publisher and conductor conspire with Verdi’s wife to trick the musical genius out of retirement (he has not written an opera for 16 years) and to collaborate with his sworn enemy.
Jaime Del Mundo directs this Julian Mitchell masterpiece that combines a fine selection of opera excerpts and an intelligent, humorous tale for theater. Playing the cast are an assembly of exemplary Filipino actors and opera singers: Paul Holme (as Giuseppi Verdi), Bart Guingona, Nieves Campa Alvarez, Apollo Abraham, Robbie Guevara, Rachelle Gerodias, Nenen Espina, Ronan Ferrer, Randy Gilongo, Noel Azcona and MaryAnne Espina.
Performances are on Dec. 5 and 7, 8 p.m., at Francisco Santiago Hall, BDO South Tower, HV dela Costa St. corner Makati Avenue, Makati City. For tickets, call 8958098 or through Ticket World at 8919999 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
