A national and international champion in music competitions (NAMCYA-1st Place in 1993, 1995 and 2001, and Barcelona Song Festival, 2003), the Loboc Children's Choir will interpret the best of its repertoire to date, with special stress on music reflecting the interaction of cultures between the Philippines and Spain during the colonial period.
The concert is their kick-off performance before they leave for a USA-Canada visit to perform in the "International Conference on Filipino-Hispanic Cultural Heritage," at the University of California at Riverside, Los Angeles (April 25), and at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire (April 30-May 2).
The group has also been invited to perform for Filipino and North American audiences in around 12 cities from April 20 to June 8, including Seattle, Olympia, Los Angeles, New York, Baltimore, Houston, San Francisco, Lincoln, San Diego, Kansas, and St. Louis.
Four outstanding Filipino choirs who have also earned national and international honors will perform with the Loboc Children's Choir. They are the University of the Philippines Singing Ambassadors, the Ateneo Chamber Singers, the Mandaluyong Children's Choir, and the University of the Philippines Cherubims and Seraphims.
Each of these choirs will guest and will be heard separately in one of the four concerts of the Loboc Children's Choir at the PETA Theater Center: on April 12, the UP Cherubims at 3 p.m. and the Mandaluyong Children's Choir at 7 p.m.; on April 13, the Ateneo Chamber Singers at 3 p.m. and the UPSA at 7 p.m.
