Auditions today for Rep's 'A Christmas Carol'

Repertory Philippines is holding auditions for "A Christmas Carol" today, July 19, 5 p.m. at the Rep rehearsal hall at C2-A Building C, Karrivin Plaza 2316 Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati City.

Everyone ages 8-12 years old and 18 and above are invited to join. All interested parties must be able to rehearse at night and do morning and afternoon weekday shows.

"A Christmas Carol" will be co-directed by Rep's Artistic Director Baby Barredo and veteran actor Robbie Guevara and will feature the Manila Symphony Orchestra.

Rep has staged this musical twice before in different versions. This time it uses the version that features music by famed Broadway composer Alan Menken ("Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast") and his equally well-known lyricist Lynn Ahrens ("Once on this Island"). It is a version that has been staged many times in the famous Madison Square Garden in New York and has been made into a movie.

Interested parties should bring a resume with at least a 2x2 photo I.D. and prepare any Broadway song with sheet music or minus one on July 19. Those who will pass the July 19 auditions will be asked to come back on Sunday, July 20, 3 p.m. to sing a song from the musical itself (scores available at the Rep office) and go through dance auditions. Knowledge in tap dancing is a plus!

"A Christmas Carol" will run from November 14 to December 21, 2008 at the Onstage Greenbelt Theatre, Makati. Rehearsals will start in September. Call the Rep office at 8870710 or visit the
Rep website for further inquiries.
