The play runs August 20-September 6, 7 p.m., at the Rizal Mini-Theater, Loyola Schools, Ateneo de Manila University. Saturday matinee shows are at 2 p.m.
Tanghalang Ateneo's second of three 30th season productions, "Othello" features theater stalwarts Nonie Buencamino and Teroy Guzman alternating as the guitar-toting Othello, the Moor caught between the angel of a Desdemona, alternately played by Irma Adlawan and Missy Maramara, and the devil of an Iago, played by Ron Capinding and Rody Vera.
Supporting them are the talents of Neil Ryan Sese and Randy Villarama who portray Cassio, the handsome lieutenant; Rachel Quong as Emilia; Exzell Macomb and Jaru Hermano as Roderigo, Joseph dela Cruz as Brabantio/Ludovico; Regina de Vera and Lara Agay as Bianca; Glen Mas and John Aguas as the Duke.
Ricky Abad, who once played Iago in a World Theater Project production of this Shakespeare classic, directs the play assisted by B.J. Crisostomo. National Artist Salvador Bernal designs the set and costumes, Jonjon Villaruel oversees the lights design, Reamur David carries out the sound design, while Ruben Reyes executes several variations of a Shakespearean song as the play's musical theme.

UA&P's premier theatre company, Dulaang ROC, opens its 19th season with "Usap-Usapan: Mga Dula Ni Tony Perez," a series of one-act plays by today's most sought- after directors.
Christian Vallez, recipient of the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Award. directs Athena Tibi, Stephanie Sol, JC Ramos and Carlo Baldonido in the tension-filled "Sierra Lakes." "Gabún," a play filled with secrets and revelations, is directed by Joachim Antonio, also a Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awardee, with performances by Grant Delfin and Seph Garza.
IMC graduate Boogie Mortel directs "The Wayside Café," with performances by Dae Lee, Gibby Gorres, Martin Vicencio and Rose Ferrer. "Biyernes, 4 Ng Hapon" marks Bok Gil's first directorial job for Dulaang ROC. The play also showcases ROC's freshest batch of talents with debut performances by Brixton Reyes and Aris Acoba.
UA&P alumnus and current Kultura Desk Head Joel Parcon directs "Sacraments of the Dead," featuring Dy Cuasy and Luis Arambulo.
