The Cultural Center of the Philippines, in cooperation with the Metro Manila Community Orchestra, presents “Halloween in Space: Journey to the Stars,” a concert for the whole family, at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater) on Friday, October 31, 2008, 4 p.m. Recommended for ages 3 to 95, the performance aims to give parents and guardians a chance to introduce their children to the symphony at an early age in a fun way.

The MMCO astronauts under the command of Space Captain Josefino Chino Toledo performs intergalactic music that includes themes from “Star Wars” and “2001: A Space Odyssey;” Johann Strauss' “Thunder and Lighting Polka" and “Radetzky March;" Mozart's “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” (Allegro); Mussorgsky's “Promenade” from “Pictures at an Exhibition;” Grieg's “Morning Mood” from “Peer Gynt” and Tchaikovsky's “1812 Overture.” Liesl Batucan is narrator. Stage direction by Chris Millado.

Children are encouraged to come at 2:30 p.m. in their best costume for the trick-or-treat and musical instruments petting zoo at the Main Theater Lobby.

For ticket inquiries, call the CCP Marketing Department 5517930, 8321125 loc. 1800-1808 or CCP Box Office at 8323704. Tickets are also available at TicketWorld 891999.

PLUS: What? Nothing from Harry Potter? John Williams' work in the blockbuster series is his most inspired in years, not to mention a cinch for a kiddie concert like this. Here--“Hedwig's Theme” from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
