Teatro LaSalliana stages Orlando Nadres' Paraisong Parisukat

The late Orlando Nadres (1938-1991) would have turned 70 years old last year.

Teatro Lasalliana pays tribute to this popular writer-director-actor of stage, film and TV by staging his 1974 classic one-act play, “Paraisong Parisukat.” Playdates are March 3-6, 10 a.m., 1, 4 and 6 p.m. at Tanghalang Julian Felipe, De La Salle University-Dasmarinas, Cavite.

“Paraisong Parisukat” is about the employees who work in the stockroom of Mirashoes: Simplicia or Isya (Cyrille Base), a simple girl, as her name suggests; Tomas (Ernesto Ferreria Jr.), the happy-go-lucky janitor; Belen (Arlene Filasol and Grace Precious Tabernero alternating), the drama queen by today’s standards; Emy (Jae Anne Gelinne Castellano and Ma. Carmina Capile alternating), the palengkera. They are all under the supervision of Ate Pastora (Jessica Cardenas and Marielle Gonzales alternating), the tyrannical store manager. Their aimless lives are disrupted by the arrival of Alberto or Al (Christian Ian Ocampo), the new stockboy. Arthur Mark Ventura and Ma. Carmina Capile complete the cast.

“Paraisong Parisukat” is directed by Rolando T. Inocencio. Set design and construction by Harlo Dominguez and the Visual & Performing Arts Production Unit. Lights design by Arnie Luna Umayam. Stage Manager is Arthur Mark Ventura with Ma. Krisanta Basa as assistant. Trainer and adviser is Nazer Salcedo.

Teatro Lasalliana is under the Cultural Arts Office, DLSU-Dasmarinas. For ticket inquiries, please call 0917-4934234.

Wow, I can't believe it; after doing this play more than 30 years ago, "Paraisong Parisukat" is still alive!

I was Ate Pastora in the Teatro Kabataan's production directed by Joonie Gamboa. Fellow castmembers were Caloy Pimentel and Malou Cristobal. Those were the days when life was sooo mellow!
