Oo nga naman

1. “Philippine social reality is so glaring that only the most dense Filipino filmmaker could ignore it... If Mendoza's cinema is very trenchant, it's because things have gotten worse.” -- URIAN past president (and my colleague) Lito Zulueta, defending Brillante Mendoza against charges of “poverty porn,” in Jessica Zafra's Newsweek article on Kinatay

2. “To the censors, I want to send the message: 'Gay people also make love.'” -- Film director Auraeus Solito (Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros), responding to the Singapore government censors' decision to ban his latest film, Boy, because it “normalised homosexuality and that the homosexual scene was prolonged and explicit and filmed in a romanticised manner.”

for number 1:
i reckon the world needs to be shaken a little. i personally find the way this director sees the philippines rather disturbing to have presented it that way, but who are we really to confine cinemtic intent?

for number 2:
this is turning out to be an interesting film to watch... of the many rent boy themed movies churned out through the years, i wonder what else is new that film makers can bring to the party?

i saw "masahista", i saw "serbis", i don't like both of them. i'm not saying they are "ugly" though.

masahista is bad. i'm sure kahit ikaw gibbz alam mong hindi ganun ang nangyayari sa loob ng "masahihan". pagbigyan na sige.

serbis. cannes??? why???

i don't care about morality or whatever social commentary eklat ang pinagsasabi ng iba.
