UP Repertory Company spoofs call centers in Hello Philippines!

The UP Repertory Company Alumni Association and the UP Repertory Company presents its first joint offering for 2009: “Hello Philippines!”

“Hello Philippines!”, a one-act musical, is a humorous take on call center culture. Team leader Tiffany tells five agents from his team that one of them is going to get axed. The twist, however, is that he will leave that decision to the five agents. So now, it’s up to ex-“tibak” Anton, clueless rich girl Berni, the slutty Toni, the “probinsyanong” Brichi and the overly religious Elsa to do whatever it takes to keep their jobs. Whatever it takes.

“Hello Philippines!” is viciously funny and holds nothing sacred as it skewers the call center lifestyle, a life cycle born out of fast money and desperation, shifting body clocks and too much coffee, beer and cigarettes. It attempts to put into perspective all the sacrifices one makes to stay in such an environment, although in an entertaining manner.

Final playdates: August 21, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; August 22, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; August 23, 7 p.m., at the College of Mass Communications Media Center.

August 27, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; August 28, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., at De La Salle-Dasmarinas.

una, alam ng up rep na reality ang call center kaya nila ito ginawang tema ng produksyon. theater is a spoof of life/reality...

mukha ngang hindi mo napanood ang play, dahil never in the story was call center compared to a drug dealer (which is not a marangal na trabaho), pero dahil tinira mo ang up rep, titirahin rin kita. "...people working there just wants to survive!!!" people..wants..teh...grammar mo ang laos at irrelevant. plural kaya yung there.

Im just a fan. napanod ko lang yung musical play. and the music was bad for a musical, but the story was good for a play...

may restaging sana. at ayusin ang musika.

thanks gibbs

OMG! I wanna see it. I'm sure it's a lot better than Cinemalaya's "My fake american accent". LOL
