I have not seen any of the presentations except Sipat Lawin's Pragres and UA&P/Dulaang Rock Opera Company's Ang Paglilitis Kay Mang Serapio in previous runs. Pragres is an energetically played satire on the corruption of Philippine bureacracy, based on an F. Sionil Jose short story and performed by the gifted Dulaang Sipat Lawin from the Philippine High School for the Arts. Paglilitis, of course, is the deathless Paul Dumol play (written when he was 16 years old!), perhaps the most-staged one-act drama in Philippine theater. Dulaang Rock Opera offers an intense, sensitive reading of the Brechtian text, one that Dr. Dumol himself liked (I watched it with him in December last year). DLS-CSB/Dulaang Filipino's Doc Resureccion, meanwhile, was a Virgin Labfest 5 standout and my choice for best new one-act work last year. Go watch these three and the rest of the campus presentations by our student theater artists.
