Crap alert

[h/t: The Daily Wh.at]

PLUS: Dodo Dayao over on Twitter, re the Mendoza hostage drama: CNN just called the Philippines “the worst country to go to.” yes, even foreign media can be fucked-up and irresponsible.

If the quote is accurate--agree. Worst? Hyperbole is the enemy of sober reporting--especially if it's hyperbole based on one admittedly attention-grabbing but isolated incident. If that's the game to be played, then what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. On the basis of that one faulty head above, CNN might as well be called the Crappy News Network. Deal?

Was it said on a video or in print? I wanna hear or read it for myself, so I know whom to crucify.

ah...the records speaks for itself. (1) maguindanao massacre, (2) policement torturing helpless victims and caught on cam, (3) pinoy congressman caught with shabu, of all places in hongkong, and (4) yes this stupid handling of the hostage crisis. So "isolated"?

There are actually news now that HK employers are considering the non-renewal of our OFWs. biggest hit would be those working for households and hotels

Not only are the HK employers considering this - they have already started being physically abusive to any Filipino they happen to bump into - yes, as casually as bumping into. Case in point - the Filipina help of a European friend of mine was physically attacked with a bunch of vegetables in the supermarket by no less than the HK cashier! While this is preposterous - as Filipinos we can't help but see the hilarity of the situation specially since the maid actually manage to react accordingly: grabbing the now ravaged, equally abused vegetable and hitting back the other person!. Hilarity aside - I dare the HK locals to do just this, they simply cannot manage without the Filipino working force (domestic or corporate).
