“BedScenes/Sins,” a twinbill of one-act gay-themed plays by award-winning playwright J. Dennis Teodosio, is being mounted by JNP Alternative Theater at The Library bar and restaurant, Orosa St., Malate, Manila.
The two plays are “Dapo” and “Carmi Martin,” under the direction of Urian Best Actor nominee Bong Cabrera and Paul Santiago, respectively.
“Dapo” was the first play in the trilogy “Tatlong Bulaklak”, a product of the 2007 UP National Writers Workshop, 2007 and presented originally at Barangay ni Jose, in Putol, San Pablo City
Playing the young couple in the play--a college student and a married man--are Jay Enriquez and Joe Andrei Vegas.
“Carmi Martin,” meanwhile, was first performed at the Virgin Labfest 6. It got three nominations at the 34th Aliw Awards for Entertainment, for Best Play (Non-Musical), Best Director (Paul Santiago) and Best Actor (Paul Jake Paule), who played a hustler picked up by a straight-acting, curious professor.
In this version, Paule portrays the professor, while Kyle Thomas David is the young hustler.
Performances are on July 8, July 15, July 22, July 29, August 5 and August 12, 7 p.m, at The Library, Orosa St., Malate, Manila.
