Disney's Aladdin, by Atlantis Productions, opens Nov. 16 at Meralco Theater

After the success of its productions of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” in 2005 and “Disney's The Little Mermaid” last year, Atlantis Productions proudly announces that it has been handpicked by Disney Theatricals to stage the Asian Premiere of its newest full-length stage musical, “Disney's Aladdin”.

Based on the much-loved animated film, “Disney's Aladdin” tells the story of a street-smart commoner whose whole life changes with one rub of a magic lamp. The brand-new romantic musical adventure incorporates all the beloved songs from the film’s Oscar-winning score and brings some of the movie’s most memorable characters to life: Jafar, Iago, the Sultan, the Genie and, of course, Aladdin and Jasmine.

“Disney's Aladdin” features music by 8-time Oscar winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Oscar-winner Howard Ashman, Oscar-winner Tim Rice, and Tony-nominated lyricist Chad Beguelin (who also wrote the brand new book of the musical).

Playing the title role of Aladdin is former Pinoy Big Brother contestant and TV/film actor Tom Rodriguez. “Disney's Aladdin” marks his professional musical theater debut.

Chosen to play the iconic role of Princess Jasmine, which was sung by Lea Salonga in the animated classic, is recording artist K-La Rivera, who received an Aliw Award nomination for Best Actress for her critically-acclaimed performance as Nina in Atlantis' “In the Heights”.

Recording artist, film and TV star, and musical theater performer Aiza Seguerra and veteran stage actor Calvin Millado, meanwhile, will alternate in the role of the Genie.

Atlantis Productions’ staging of “Disney's Aladdin”, directed by Bobby Garcia and Chari Arespacochaga, runs Nov. 16-Dec. 9 at the Meralco Theater, through a special licensing arrangement with Music Theatre International.

Shows are now available for showbuying and fundraising opportunities. Call Atlantis Productions 8927078/0917-8381543 for more information. Or visit

gibbs, i saw this last night, i was surprised ganda ng boses ni Tom and super cute talaga, bagay na bagay.

Si Jasmine (K-La, medyo nahahapo ang boses.

I generally enjoyed it and I'll watch it again for Aiza's version naman of the Genie.
